MOZaic Marula Oil is an initiative founded by MOZaic Upliftment, a non-profit organisation, with the vision of uplifting the livelihoods of women and their families from rural Mozambique.
The women stay behind while men go to South Africa or Maputo to find jobs and sometimes only return home once a year. The remainder of the year women fill the role of provider for the family’s needs.
The marula fruit is a natural resource that forms an integral part of the culture and survival of the Shangaan population in Southern Africa. As a natural, renewable food source, communities use the marula fruit as a primary food source during the lean months, when staple food are scarce.
This very reason has caused MOZaic Upliftment to explore different ways to use this familiar product, to help the Shangaan communities create sustainable income and improve the living conditions in rural communities.
We don’t just do projects, but walk with communities to assist, equip and expose them to economic opportunities.
The MOZaic Marula Oil product range is bottled in Mozambique and Johannesburg, from where it is distributed to agents. MOZaic Marula Oil not only brings hope to the buyer who applies the oil to their skin and experience a boost in their confidence and self-esteem when they realise the results, but also to those who earn an income through the value chain: the mother and their families, the leaders who monitor the quality control process, the workers pressing the oil, the coordinating team and agents who sell the product in the market.

What Makes Marula Oil so Good?
This supports cell regeneration and collagen production, increasing the skin’s elasticity and suppleness. It is high in antioxidants that help reduce inflammation, and the moisturising properties prevent lines and wrinkles and help fight against dryness, also offering temporary relief from itching skin. It has also been found to help in treating eczema.
The oil contains eight times more than found in oranges, supports collagen production, and provides the body with rich antioxidants which fight free radicals from harsh UV rays and pollution, which contribute to ageing and dullness.
These contain hydrating properties, making marula oil the most fantastic anti-ager.
These have emollient and moisturising benefits, which replenish the moisture level and enhance the softness and radiance of the skin. Breakouts will be something of the past, with antimicrobial properties that help fight future bacteria and stop the skin from overproducing oil.
